The founding of Dichotomy was the natural evolution of Carlos’ career in advertising, marketing, and publishing spanning 20 years. From his early days working for two-time F1 World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi’s auto accessories business, where he achieved the title of Advertising Manager at the age of 22, to his seven-year run as Miami Ad School’s first Director of Education, Carlos’ career has been defined by his work ethic, his command of the written word, and his mastery of technology in the service of communication.

Carlos’s career spans from publishing–he was the first Production Manager for the avant-garde art magazine Juxtapoz–to the tip of the spear of the advertising world, spending time in San Juan, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Seoul working for firms including Direct Partners, Ogilvy & Mather, Leo Burnett, and TBWA\Chiat\Day as Copywriter and Associate Creative Director.

In 1999, Carlos was chosen to be the New York office’s first Interactive Creative by David Page, ECD at Chiat. There he worked on digital projects for Absolut, the Sci-Fi Channel, and a whole lot of Dotcoms that, sadly, do not exist anymore. From here on out, Carlos went digital.

His time at Miami Ad School was marked by many milestones. He helped to develop the curriculum that has made the school the most-awarded institution of its kind in the world. He implemented an all-new digital infrastructure for all U.S. locations, helped to develop the school’s Web site and student intranet, and was, and continues to be, the architect of their very successful social media efforts.

Carlos, his wife, and their two Chihuahuas live in Tampa. In what spare time he has, Carlos enjoys fine wines, Formula One racing, photography and his first love—writing about himself in the third person.
